Seeking Cars for Automotive Technician Program

The Automotive Technician programme is seeking vehicles with specific issues for their students to work on. If your vehicle displays problems such as failure to start, rough idling, poor acceleration, warning lights, or any other engine issues, you have a valuable opportunity to have it repaired. Students will be available to service vehicles between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. It is important to note that your vehicle may be unavailable for a few days while it undergoes repairs.

Instructors are keen to provide students with the opportunity to work on actual everyday vehicles, rather than using vehicles solely for demonstration purposes. They believe that working on real vehicles with genuine problems provides invaluable experience and knowledge for students and instructors alike.

According to automotive instructor Dave Heizen, “Students appreciate working on vehicles with real problems. This is a significant driver in keeping us as instructors updated on current technology. As instructors, we learn every day while working on vehicles with interesting problems that we have never encountered before.” Heizen also mentioned that at times, local automotive shops struggle to diagnose a vehicle’s issue, leading to the vehicle being brought to the college’s automotive department, where students are able to identify and resolve the problem.

To schedule an appointment for your vehicle, please send an email to [email protected] Be sure to include your best contact number, the year, make and model of your vehicle, and a brief description of the issue. It is important to note that although the labor required to diagnose and repair your vehicle is a free service, you will be responsible for the cost of any parts involved. Before proceeding, you will receive an estimate of the associated costs.

This presents a wonderful opportunity for those experiencing vehicle troubles to have them rectified, while also providing students with real-world experience. It is a mutually beneficial situation for both the owner and the students. If your vehicle has been causing you headaches recently, why not consider taking advantage of this programme?
