Zircon Technologies, a distinguished label and packaging converter based in India, has recently announced the installation of an Omet Varyflex 670 press equipped with a Vetaphone corona treater at its production facility in Dehradun, situated approximately 250km north of New Delhi within the State of Uttaranchal, close to the border with Tibet.
Established in 2007 by Sanjeev Sandhi, the company has made significant advancements in the industry and currently employs 450 individuals across five sites. Zircon Technologies is renowned for producing over 40 million square meters of printed material annually, serving diverse markets such as food and beverage, healthcare, industrial, and pharmaceutical sectors. Their product range encompasses labels, flexible packaging, anti-counterfeiting and brand authentication items, shrink sleeves, pouches, and blister packs.
To uphold their high standards, Zircon Technologies is dedicated to providing comprehensive support, from research and development to the delivery of the finished product. Sanjeev Sandhi emphasized the company’s steadfast commitment to quality and efficient delivery processes, ensuring that their products seamlessly integrate into their customers’ production lines.
Given their typical use of materials such as PE and aluminum foil, corona treatment is a crucial component to ensure optimal ink adhesion. Zircon Technologies has embraced Vetaphone corona technology in two of their existing Omet presses and seven Mark Andy presses. Additionally, the Italian-manufactured Omet VaryFlex 430 flexo press, tailored to meet the specific requirements of Zircon Technologies, comes equipped with automatic registration control and the ability to print both back and front in a single pass. This press is capable of handling substrates ranging from 12-micron film to 600-micron board.
As both Mark Andy and Omet are acknowledged as leading OEM customers of Vetaphone, the decision to integrate the Danish company’s corona technology into their processes was a logical one. The Mark Andy presses have been fitted with VE1A-A corona treaters with four ceramic electrodes in their removable cartridges, accompanied by iCorona-1UL generators with 1.5kW and 2kW of power, respectively. Similarly, the Omet press has been equipped with two VE1A-A treaters with four ceramic electrodes and 2kW iCorona generators.
Sanjeev Sandhi expressed his confidence in choosing Vetaphone for surface treatment, citing the company’s pioneering role in corona treatment and their outstanding reputation for reliability. He also highlighted his company’s ambition to expand into the aluminum packaging, screen printing, and stand-up pouch markets, where non-absorbent substrates necessitate surface treatment.
Having worked with esteemed clients such as Diageo, Yamaha, and Pernod Ricard, Zircon Technologies understands the importance of employing state-of-the-art technology to meet the exacting quality standards demanded by their customers. Sanjeev Sandhi expressed his satisfaction with the Omet/Vetaphone combination, emphasizing that it enables their team of skilled professionals to deliver what customers want, when they want it, all while upholding superior quality and competitive pricing.
In conclusion, Zircon Technologies’ adoption of the latest Vetaphone technology further underscores their commitment to excellence and their readiness to meet the evolving demands of the industry. This strategic move is a testament to the company’s proactive approach in integrating cutting-edge solutions to uphold their position as a leader in the label and packaging conversion sector.
