The Jamaica Technology and Digital Alliance (JTDA), formerly known as the Jamaica Computer Society, recently conducted its election for a new executive team on Thursday, February 29. This significant event has been hailed as the commencement of an exciting new chapter focused on innovation, empowerment, and community engagement.

It is important to note that the previous leadership, led by Immediate Past President Adrian Dunkley, has made substantial progress in driving the growth of JTDA and has had a significant impact on the technology sector in Jamaica. As the organization observes its 49th year, it remains firm in its commitment to promoting access, influence, and empowerment within the ICT community.

Looking ahead to 2024, the JTDA is preparing for a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the community and nurturing digital innovation. The “My Membership Matters” campaign is designed to enhance community ties, while the Member Plus programme, in collaboration with BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT, will improve membership benefits. Additionally, the Jamaica Cyber Skills Initiative and the Tech Alliance Fund Crowdfunding Platform are poised to provide crucial support for tech projects and digital skills development. Furthermore, the annual BizTech Conference, coinciding with JTDA’s 40th anniversary, will convene industry leaders and visionaries, solidifying the organization’s position at the forefront of technological advancement.

Regarding the recent developments, Almando Cox, the newly elected president, expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “This year is not just a celebration of our longstanding history, but a renewed commitment to driving progress, innovation, and empowerment within Jamaica’s vibrant technology sector.”

It is indeed heartening to witness the JTDA’s unwavering dedication to uplifting the ICT community in Jamaica. The strides made by the organization serve as a beacon of hope for the future, paving the way for a more connected, dynamic, and forward-thinking technology landscape.
