OMNIVISION, a renowned developer of semiconductor solutions, has recently announced the compatibility of its OX08D10 8-megapixel CMOS image sensor with TheiaCel™ technology with the NVIDIA Omniverse™ development platform. This significant development will be unveiled at booth 636 during the ongoing NVIDIA GTC event at the San Jose Convention Center.
NVIDIA Omniverse is a platform designed to assist developers in integrating Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) and RTX rendering technologies into their 3D applications and services, including high-fidelity, physically-based simulation for accelerated autonomous vehicle development.
The OX08D10 is the first image sensor to incorporate OMNIVISION’s impressive 2.1-micron (µm) TheiaCel™ technology. This groundbreaking technology harnesses the capabilities of next-generation lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFIC) and OMNIVISION’s DCG™ high dynamic range (HDR) technology, enabling the sensor to accurately capture LED lights without any flickering artifact for nearly all driving conditions. TheiaCel™ allows the OX08D10 to achieve HDR image capture at a distance of up to 200 meters, making it ideal for automotive exterior camera applications. Additionally, the sensor boasts industry-leading low-light performance and low power consumption, all in a compact size that is 50% smaller than other sensors in its class.
Dr. Paul Wu, head of automotive product marketing at OMNIVISION, affirmed, “The OX08D10 is OMNIVISION’s flagship image sensor that features our TheiaCel™ technology, ushering in a new era of low-light sensitivity in an easy-to-implement solution that yields dramatic improvements in image quality. We are proud to be part of the ecosystem of NVIDIA partners who are working together to accelerate AV development.”
The new OX08D10 also features OMNIVISION’s a-CSP™ package technology for the smallest possible solution available today. Samples of the sensor are already available, and it is set to be in mass production in the second half of 2024.
For those interested in delving deeper into this cutting-edge technology, OMNIVISION has encouraged individuals to reach out to their sales representatives and schedule a demonstration at the ongoing NVIDIA GTC event.
