The British Council and Prince’s Trust International Support Nigerian Entrepreneurs

In a recent development, the British Council, in collaboration with Prince’s Trust International, has awarded grants to eight Nigerian entrepreneurs as part of the ‘Sustainable Entrepreneurship Challenge Programme’. The selected entrepreneurs, aged 18 to 35, received £500 each after successfully pitching their business ideas to a panel of judges.

The winners, who emerged from a pool of 60 contestants, were divided into two groups based on the nature of their business ideas. The first cohort included businesses such as Blue Sands Stem Labs, Mee Best Foods, Hems to Fit, and Ecodey Management Resources, while the second cohort consisted of Eco Feet, Suss Flow, Cattle Technology, and Buy Scrap Nigeria.

Lucy Pearson, the Country Director of the British Council, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting young people in Nigeria. She emphasised the importance of providing opportunities for talent development through various activities in arts and culture, education, and English language. Pearson also highlighted the significant role that skills development and innovation play in driving economic growth in Nigeria.
