Bollywood megastar Akshay Kumar is renowned for his disciplined lifestyle and humble demeanor, despite his significant achievements in the industry. In a recent appearance on Shikhar Dhawan’s talk show ‘Dhawan Karenge,’ the actor discussed his son Aarav, shedding light on his unassuming lifestyle and independent nature.
Revealed on the show, Aarav, currently studying at a university in London, made the decision to leave home at the tender age of 15. “He left home at the age of 15. He has always been keen on academics and desired to be independent. It was his choice to move out, despite my reluctance. Nevertheless, I could not hold him back, for I left my home at 14,” shared the proud father.
Furthermore, Akshay praised his son for his pragmatic and eco-friendly lifestyle, stating, “He does his own laundry, cooks well, cleans up after himself, and prefers not to invest in expensive clothing. In fact, he shops at a second-hand store, Thrifty, as he believes in minimizing waste.”
Contrary to expectations, Aarav has no aspirations to pursue a career in Bollywood, unlike his father. “He is interested in fashion; he does not wish to venture into cinema. He approached me and expressed his disinterest in acting. I told him that it is his life, and he should pursue what he desires,” revealed Akshay, displaying his support for his son’s career choice.
Akshay attributed his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, to instilling values of simplicity in their children. “I am content with the way Twinkle and I have raised Aarav; he is a very unpretentious young man. On the other hand, my daughter has a fondness for fashion,” he added.
It is evident that Aarav has inherited his father’s disciplined and down-to-earth nature. Just like Akshay, a fitness enthusiast and martial arts expert, Aarav has already attained two black belts and a yellow sash in Kung Fu at a young age.
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna entered marital union in 2001 and were blessed with two children, Aarav and Nitara.
At present, Akshay Kumar is engrossed in the upcoming film ‘Jolly LLB 3,’ starring Arshad Warsi.
