The annual West (Northern California) Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, organized by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), has recently announced the winning teams from San Francisco. These two student businesses have secured their spots in the national finals in New York on October 10, where they will compete for the National Champion title and cash prizes.

Dorothy Ho and Kimberlee Tran, students from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco, claimed the first-place position with their business idea, NutriShell. This innovative concept involves the production of organic, eggshell-based fertilizers packaged with a charming aesthetic. Additionally, Ayaan Hassan of Silver Creek High School in San Jose, California, secured second place with AidlyAI, an app utilizing AI technology to connect patients to urgent care centers.

These aspiring entrepreneurs presented their original business concepts to a panel of esteemed judges, including professionals from renowned companies such as SAP, Goldman Sachs, Lyte Creative, CI&T, and Ernst & Young LLP (EY US). The winners were selected by the judges, with the first-place winner receiving $1,500 and the second-place winner receiving $1,000.

Tim Blaylock, NFTE West Executive Director, expressed his admiration for the participants, stating, “The NFTE West Northern California Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge has once again showcased the remarkable talent and potential of our young people. The creative ideas, enthusiastic presentations, and unwavering determination displayed by the participants have been truly inspiring.”

The success of the NFTE West (Northern California) Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge is attributed to the collaborative efforts of NFTE West teachers, volunteer coaches, judges, and the leadership of the NFTE West team. Additionally, the event received support from EY US, Shopify, the Citi Foundation, PayPal, and Santander.
