Staying Fit: Planet Fitness Offers Free Workouts for Hawaii Teens June 1 through Aug. 31

Planet Fitness has announced the return of its High School Summer Pass program for individuals aged 14 to 19, offering complimentary access to its facilities from June 1 through Aug. 31. Teenagers who wish to participate may enrol for the program at planetfitness.com/summerpass. Participants under 18 are required to register with a parent or guardian either online or at the club.

This initiative, initially unveiled in May to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month, seeks to motivate young individuals to prioritize their physical and mental well-being during the summer vacation, particularly given the suspension of various organized extracurricular activities. According to Planet Fitness officials, the summer presents an ideal opportunity for teenagers to remain physically active.

The American Heart Association reports that a mere 25% of teenagers meet the recommended one hour of daily physical activity. Furthermore, recent research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicates that physical fitness can aid in shielding children and adolescents from depression, anxiety, and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.

In a statement, Craig Benson, interim chief executive officer at Planet Fitness, expressed, “As the leading fitness organization with establishments across the United States and Canada, Planet Fitness is pleased to continue investing in today’s youth by granting them complimentary access to fitness during a pivotal period in their lives. Many teenagers are still grappling with the long-term mental health effects of the pandemic, yet studies demonstrate that exercise can notably enhance teenagers’ overall well-being. We eagerly anticipate welcoming participants of the High School Summer Pass program into our clubs to support them on their journeys to health and wellness.”

In addition to the free use of Planet Fitness facilities, High School Summer Pass participants can make use of complimentary fitness training and customized workouts tailored specifically for high school students through the Planet Fitness App.

This presents an outstanding opportunity for teenagers in Hawaii to sustain their physical fitness and take control of their mental well-being without incurring any costs. What better way to spend the summer than by getting fit at no charge and reaping the emotional and mental advantages that arise from routine exercise? If you are a teenager in Hawaii, be sure not to overlook this opportunity.
