Expansion and Renovation of Macchialina in South Beach

Macchialina, a renowned establishment in Miami Beach since 2012, is currently undergoing a significant expansion and renovation. This transformation became possible after the acquisition of the adjacent six-room hostel, allowing for a more spacious and open floor plan. The redesign encompasses a dining area capable of accommodating up to 70 individuals, along with a custom-built bar, giving the restaurant a contemporary Italian farmhouse ambience while preserving its distinctive rustic Italian culinary offerings.
Jacqueline Pirolo, the managing partner and beverage director, expressed her appreciation for the unique opportunity to revamp the restaurant and address issues encountered over the past 12+ years. She cited the new space as being inspired by their own experiences and travels, including the Italian countryside, the lively streets of Mexico City, and the minimalist pleasures of Berlin. This refurbishment signifies the restaurant’s evolution as a leader in hospitality.
The restaurant’s renowned wine program has received accolades, such as the “Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator since 2019 and recognition from Gambero Rosso for having the “Best Contemporary Wine List” in 2021. Jacqueline was also acknowledged as one of the “7 Female Wine Pros Shaping Miami” by Wine Enthusiast in 2023. Due to the success of the wine program, a multi-use wine room will be unveiled later this summer, serving as both a wine cellar for the restaurant and a shop for purchasing bottles at retail prices.
In addition to the expansion and new wine room, Macchialina will continue to offer its classic dishes such as polenta with house-made sausage meatballs and short rib lasagna, now available on the menu every day. The restaurant will also feature rotating specials including tortelloni, gnoccheti, and Ola gelato for dessert, suitable for the summer season. Later in the summer, Macchialina will introduce crudo and pizza parties for its guests to relish.
For first-time visitors interested in dining at the restaurant, Jacqueline recommends sampling the classic Macchialina dishes as well as the new rotating specials. The restaurant is located at 820 Alton Rd., Miami Beach and operates from Monday to Thursday from 6 to 11 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 5 to 11 p.m.
The expansion and renovation of Macchialina in South Beach marks an exciting new chapter for the restaurant. With a fresh, modern design and an enhanced dining experience, it is certain to remain a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
