Atos wraps up final Dry Run for the Olympic Games Paris 2024

Atos, a globally renowned leader in digital transformation, has successfully concluded its final Dry Run in anticipation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. This pivotal phase in the preparations for the highly anticipated event took place from May 13 to 17 across various venues in Paris and other key sites of the Games.

The primary objective of the Dry Run was to rigorously test Atos’ IT policies, procedures, and technology teams in simulated real-life scenarios that could potentially impact the seamless operation of the competitions. Furthermore, the exercise aimed to fortify team cohesion and collaboration, ensuring that each individual was fully equipped to make a substantial contribution to the success of the Games. In its role as the IT integration leader, Atos worked closely with the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 (OCOG) and spearheaded a team of experts from all technology partners involved in the Games.

A notable total of 83 Technology Rehearsal Officers were deployed to execute 1,400 scenarios, testing over 1,000 participants to respond to various situations they may encounter during the event, such as competition delays due to weather conditions, server disconnections, or staff illnesses. The operations were carried out across 39 venues, including the Central Technology Operations Center in Barcelona, as well as specific Olympic and Paralympic Games sites in Paris and other locations across France.

This final Dry Run proved to be a triumph, as it did not reveal any significant policy issues and instead led to further enhancements in certain processes. Bruno Marie-Rose, Chief Information and Technology Officer for Paris 2024, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver an extraordinary event this summer, noting that the exercise had reaffirmed their solid foundation. Christophe Thivet, Chief Integration Officer for Paris 2024 at Atos, expressed his gratitude to all colleagues involved, demonstrating his trust in the team’s readiness to overcome any challenges that may arise with less than two months remaining before the Opening Ceremony.

Atos has been engaged in close collaboration with the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 for the past four years, undertaking extensive preparations for the Games. By the time the Opening Ceremony arrives, the Atos team will have conducted an impressive 250,000 hours of testing from its Integration Testing Lab in Madrid, in addition to leading two Dry Runs and participating in all sporting test events organized by the OCOG or sporting federations. Notably, Atos has been involved with the Olympic Movement since 1992 and the Paralympic Movement since 2001, and is also the Official Digital Technology Partner of the European Olympic Committee for the 2023 and 2027 editions of the European Games.

With over 94,000 employees and an annual revenue of approximately €11 billion, Atos is committed to supporting the advancement of knowledge, education, and research, and contributing to the scientific and technological excellence that will shape the future of the information space. As a pioneer in decarbonization services and products, Atos is dedicated to facilitating a secure and decarbonized digital world for its clients across 69 countries.

As preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 continue to progress, the successful completion of the final Dry Run is a clear indication of the dedication and expertise of the entire Atos team and their commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for athletes, spectators, and stakeholders at the Games.
