The Africa Cybersecurity and AI Foundation (ACAIF) has announced plans to train 1000 entrepreneurs from across Africa, with 200 from Kenya, in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to facilitate the integration of AI into businesses of all sizes, ranging from small enterprises to larger corporations.
During a seminar at the University of Nairobi’s Chiromo Campus, ACAIF chairperson Evalyn Oloo, who also serves as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Acyberschool, unveiled the program. Oloo highlighted the transformative impact this initiative will have on entrepreneurs and students.
As part of the programme, students pursuing cybersecurity and AI will receive a one-year fellowship grant to enhance their skills and contribute to job creation within the sector.
Oloo underscored the foundation’s dedication to capacity building and its mission to link individuals with meaningful opportunities. The focus is not only on scaling individuals to support institutions in strengthening their cybersecurity posture but also on equipping individuals with the skills to protect themselves in an increasingly digital economy.
ACAIF has played a key role in enhancing cybersecurity and AI capabilities across Africa, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world cybersecurity challenges. The foundation has provided hands-on experience and practical skills to final-year students and recent graduates.
In addition to enhancing capabilities, the foundation supports and showcases promising innovations through the Cybersecurity and AI Innovation Challenge Africa (CAICA). Through its collaboration with ACAIF, the Acyberschool has launched two projects aimed at increasing entrepreneurship in cybersecurity and AI while promoting practical application of skills in the workplace.
Ben Roberts, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, encouraged institutions to embrace AI, outlining its potential to create jobs and advance businesses in the long term.
The initiative marks an important step towards building a resilient digital economy across the continent and fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs and professionals well-versed in AI and cybersecurity.
