AIQ and Halliburton Revolutionize ADNOC Upstream Operations with AI-Enabled Technology

AIQ and Halliburton have partnered with ADNOC to launch an AI-enabled Autonomous Well Control solution, RoboWell, in Abu Dhabi. This groundbreaking project introduces the first ever AI-supported Advanced Process Control (APC) solution for gas lifted wells. RoboWell utilizes real-time data to optimize production processes and ensure safe operation. The solution was developed in line with ADNOC’s vision of digitalizing the energy industry and making it more efficient, safer, and sustainable.

RoboWell was implemented in ADNOC’s Onshore NEB asset, including natural flow and gas lifted wells. AIQ and Halliburton worked closely with ADNOC to develop sophisticated models and AI algorithms that govern the autonomous process controls. The integration of AI models with real-time data enables dynamic response to changes in the operating environment.

In addition, AIQ created an interactive visualization dashboard for operators and production engineers, providing real-time guidance and supporting knowledge transfer on gas lift well operations.

Omar Al Marzooqi, CEO of AIQ, expressed pride in working alongside Halliburton to provide advanced AI solutions that automate complex operating procedures. He emphasized that this solution will optimize ADNOC’s operations and set new precedents across the industry.

Nagaraj Srinivasan, senior vice president of Halliburton Digital Solutions and Consulting, highlighted the innovation of leveraging AIQ’s skills and ADNOC’s ambitions for new operating models. This collaboration accelerates ADNOC’s digital journey and lowers their total cost of ownership.

The RoboWell solution automates specific tasks, enabling a faster response to maintain well flow rates within desired operating envelopes. ADNOC will benefit from the ability to quickly and safely implement new production scenarios. The solution also increases productivity by relieving the workforce from unnecessary workloads and non-core tasks.

The initial results of the scale-up project led to a 30% reduction in gas lift consumption and a 50% reduction in well movements. The advanced RoboWell solution is now set to be deployed across hundreds of ADNOC’s production wells in the next stage.
