Pret A Manger Expands in Berlin with New Coffee Shops

Pret A Manger is making its mark in Germany with the opening of five new coffee shops in downtown Berlin. The popular chain, known for its freshly-made food and organic coffee, will be partnering with PM Nord to launch these new locations by the end of 2023.

The first two shops will open in Berlin city centre in November, with one on Friedrichstrasse and another in the Sony Center at The Playce at Potsdamer Platz. These will be followed by openings in Leipziger Platz, The Playce at Potsdamer Platz, and Steglitzer Schloßstraße.

Pret A Manger already has a presence in Berlin’s transport hubs, as well as stores in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. However, the expansion into downtown Berlin marks a significant milestone for the company’s European growth.

Stephane Klein, the managing director of Pret Europe, expressed excitement about bringing the Pret brand to the city centre. He stated, ‘We’ve heard from locals that they would love to have a Pret in the heart of Berlin, so we’re thrilled to be working with our new franchise partner, PM Nord GmbH, to make that happen.’

To facilitate the expansion, PM Nord has acquired several CARAS stores, which will be transformed into new Pret A Manger locations. This strategic move will allow the chain to cater to the growing demand for its high-quality food and beverages.

Pret A Manger has ambitious plans to double its business size by 2026, expanding into new countries and regions worldwide. In the past year alone, the company has opened new shops in Luxembourg, Italy, and Ireland. Additionally, it will soon be launching in Portugal and Spain.
