Gap Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Sven Gerjets as the new Chief Technology Officer for the esteemed clothing company. With nearly seven years of experience at Mattel, where he demonstrated expertise in overseeing various facets of technology and innovation, including shared tech platforms, AI, software and hardware development, blockchain, and connected product design, as well as spearheading the toymaker’s data security and privacy initiatives, Gerjets brings valuable insight and knowledge to his new role.

In a correspondence to the employees of the company, CEO Richard Dickson underscored the significance of fortifying Gap’s platform as the company continues to enlarge its brand portfolio, encompassing Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Gap. Dickson emphasized, “It is imperative that our technology portfolio and digital roadmap underpin the rejuvenation of our brands and empower us to foster deeper connections with customers and achieve our objectives.”

Directly reporting to Dickson, Gerjets will assume a pivotal role in propelling Gap Inc.’s technological progress. Dickson, a former executive at Mattel himself, expressed unwavering confidence in Gerjets, affirming that technology can substantially augment efficiency, product development, and customer engagement. He further stated, “We are only just embarking on the journey with data science, and I am confident that Sven’s proficiency and guidance will set us on the path to triumph.”

Gerjets assumes the position previously held by Gurmeet Singh, the former Chief Digital and Technology Officer. Prior to his tenure at Mattel, Gerjets held the esteemed position of Chief Information Officer at Time Warner Cable, where he adeptly unified the IT and cybersecurity teams, and efficiently led through Time Warner’s acquisition by Charter Communications. His professional background also includes serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Pearson Education and as the Senior Vice President of IT at DirectTV.

The designation of Gerjets mirrors Gap Inc.’s steadfast dedication to propelling innovation and digital transformation across its brands. As the retail industry undergoes continuous evolution, Gap Inc. is positioning itself to harness technology to not only elevate its products and services but also to fortify its connections with customers.

The debut of Sven Gerjets heralds a new chapter for Gap Inc.’s technological evolution, and the company is sanguine about the positive impact his expertise and leadership will bestow upon the organization.
