Advancing Technology and Policy Research in Armenia: UATE and APRI Armenia Collaborate for WCIT2024/DigiTec

The Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) of Armenia and the Applied Policy Research Institute of Armenia Foundation have entered into a significant partnership in policy research and dialogue, as well as the organization of the 2024 World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT2024/DigiTec). This collaboration aims to promote technological advancements and policy research initiatives in Armenia.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by UATE CEO Sargis Karapetyan and APRI Armenia Director Lara Setrakian, marking the official start of their joint efforts. This agreement establishes the framework for the two organizations to collaborate in organizing the activities of WCIT2024/DigiTec, inviting esteemed guests, and leveraging their combined expertise in policy research and dialogue within the field.

Hayk Karapetyan, Executive Director of the Organizing Committee of WCIT2024//DigiTec, expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing the significance of this MoU in ensuring the success of WCIT2024/DigiTec. He highlighted the collective expertise that will be harnessed to create an exceptional event that advances technology and policy research in Armenia.

Scheduled to take place from October 4 to 7 in Yerevan, at the Karen Demirtchian Complex, the 2024 WCIT will serve as a global platform to amplify the impact of information technologies, with a focus on the theme “THE POWER OF MIND: AI Beyond Limits, Within Ethics.” The event aims to underscore the importance of applied sciences, investments, and global presence in diverse regions and economies.

Lara Setrakian, President of APRI Armenia, expressed excitement about the collaboration, underscoring their joint commitment to advancing technology and policy research in Armenia. She conveyed her pleasure at contributing to the success of WCIT2024/DigiTec.

The 2024 WCIT agenda will feature a high-level programme, back-to-back meetings, the WITSA World Cup (WWC) for scale-ups, innovation showcases, business presentations, and workshops. With an expected attendance of thousands of local and international delegates, the event promises to offer a comprehensive agenda catering to diverse stakeholders, providing access to the latest global ICT innovations and cutting-edge solutions.

Sargis Karapetyan, CEO of UATE, highlighted the significance of collective action in advancing technology and policy research in Armenia, emphasizing the partnership’s role in driving significant advancements in the country’s tech ecosystem.

The World Congress on Innovation and Technology is facilitated by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance, a consortium of over 80 information technology industry associations from economies around the world. The event has a rich history of convening technology leaders, policymakers, and industry experts. Notable past speakers at the Congress include Bill Clinton, Vint Cerf, Bill Gates, Ginni Rometty, Larry Ellison, Anne Mulcahey, Faqir Chand Kohli, and Michael Dell.

UATE, representing over 160+ high-tech companies in Armenia, has been a key player in driving industry growth through various initiatives, including technology education, global market access, and policymaking. The organization is also known for organizing major events, such as the WCIT and the DigiTec Expo, which highlight Armenian technological advancements on a global scale.
