The Clive Henry Group, a healthcare recruitment and consultancy firm, co-founded by Liam Molesworth and Sam Alsop-Hall, has achieved the remarkable feat of being named the second fastest-growing private company in the UK, according to the third annual Sunday Times 100 rankings. This recognition places their company as the fastest-growing in the Midlands, an achievement that Sam Alsop-Hall describes as “surreal and amazing.”
Established in 2019, the Clive Henry Group has seen phenomenal success in a relatively short period. Specialising in healthcare services for the NHS, public sector, and wider health and care industry, the company has not only achieved sales of £20 million last year but has also demonstrated an impressive average annual growth of 264.5% over the past three years.
Sam Alsop-Hall expressed his astonishment at the company’s ranking, stating, “We have grown the business really quickly but didn’t realise we were second in this league table. It’s a bit surreal really, especially seeing some of the companies in the list who are quite well known.” He also added, “The response has been amazing. The healthcare industry needs support and we are proud to be a part of that. What we have achieved takes a bit of luck but also a lot of hard work.”
The origins of the Clive Henry Group’s name hold personal significance for the co-founders, as it is a tribute to their grandfathers – Clive Loxham and John Henry Molesworth. Sam Alsop-Hall recalls how his grandfather’s encouragement and entrepreneurial spirit inspired him to take the bold step of setting up his own company. “He said, ‘What have you got to lose? Give it a go and the worst case scenario, you will just go back into the employment market after.’ I wouldn’t have had the courage to do it unless he’d had that chat with me.”
The accolades of the Clive Henry Group are part of a larger trend among the top 100 fastest-growing companies, with an average sales increase of 118% per year over the last three years, amounting to a combined £2.9 billion in sales. This growth has also resulted in the creation of 10,000 new jobs in the last three years, with 99 of the companies planning further hires in the next 12 months, which translates to approximately 3,800 additional jobs.
The highly regarded Sunday Times 100 rankings are a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit and resilience of business leaders who have achieved remarkable growth in challenging economic conditions. The research for the ratings was conducted in partnership with Beauhurst, a trusted source of private company data.
