Iran Offers Modern Irrigation Technology to Kazakhstan for Agriculture

The recent meeting between Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, and Ali Akbar Joukar, the Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, focused on the potential for sharing expertise and technology to minimize water loss in crop irrigation and transportation.

During the discussions, Iranian companies expressed their willingness to provide Kazakhstan with advanced irrigation systems, including groundwater and automatic drip irrigation systems designed to deliver moisture directly to the roots of plants. Importantly, the implementation of these technologies in Iran has led to a significant reduction in water usage for rice cultivation, as well as an increase in crop yields.

Minister Nurzhigitov highlighted the ongoing large-scale efforts to construct and revamp reservoirs and other water management facilities in Kazakhstan. He emphasized the significant experience possessed by Iranian companies in this sector, as well as their development of effective technologies, some of which are already operational in Kazakhstan. In the provinces of Zhambyl and Turkestan, for instance, irrigation networks are currently undergoing reconstruction. As such, Nurzhigitov extended an invitation to Iranian business leaders to participate in tenders for the construction and maintenance of water infrastructure in Kazakhstan.

The potential transfer of irrigation technologies from Iran to Kazakhstan is an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two countries. This partnership holds promise for improving agricultural practices in Kazakhstan and addressing the challenges posed by water scarcity.

In conclusion, the willingness of Iranian companies to share their expertise and provide modern irrigation solutions to Kazakhstan reflects a significant step towards sustainable agricultural development in the region. The proposed collaboration is not only a testament to the strengthening bilateral relations between Iran and Kazakhstan but also demonstrates a shared commitment to addressing crucial agricultural and environmental concerns.
