Hidden Gem Alert: Lita, The New Must-Visit Restaurant in Marylebone, London

2 min read

In the recent past, there have been discussions regarding the potential decline of upscale dining in the United Kingdom, as many have speculated that casual dining could overshadow fine dining. Nonetheless, the newly-established Lita in Marylebone counters these assumptions with its exceptional offerings.

Located on Paddington Street, Lita exudes the allure of a neighbourhood bistro with its welcoming and cozy atmosphere. However, do not be misled by its unassuming facade. Lita is a refuge for refined cuisine and premium ingredients, featuring a substantial fire grill that flawlessly prepares delectable dishes such as Cornish Turbot and steak.

Seated at the chef’s table, we were privileged to a magnificent view of the open-plan kitchen, where culinary artistry unfolded before our eyes. The absence of tablecloths and the presence of contented patrons underscored the restaurant’s commitment to providing a pleasurable, laid-back dining experience.

Our gastronomic expedition at Lita commenced with a delightful serving of Leclerc Briant Rosé Champagne, which complemented the Bluefin tuna sashimi impeccably. The delicate texture and flavour of the tuna served as evidence of the restaurant’s unwavering dedication to excellence.

Credit for the Mediterranean-influenced menu is due to Luke Ahearne, whose remarkable culinary background encompasses well-known establishments such as Luca, Clove Club, and Corrigans. The thoughtful menu seamlessly combines technical expertise with bold flavours, culminating in an unforgettable dining experience.

While every dish we sampled was exceptional, the wild sea bass cooked over flame emerged as the highlight of the meal. Accompanied by new potatoes bathed in butter, the dish transported us to the Basque Country with its exceptional flavour and masterful preparation.

Our experience at Lita rivaled some of the finest dining experiences we have encountered, surpassing even a meal enjoyed amidst the tranquil environs of the Languedoc in France. The restaurant’s commitment to culinary excellence is certain to dispel any skepticism, whether it originates in London, Paris, or beyond.
