In order to promote the use of electric vehicles and energy storage technology in Africa, Golden Dragon has initiated an electric bus technology training programme. This collaborative effort involves the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization, the Chinese Mission to the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the African Electric Power Utilities Association.
The comprehensive six-day training programme includes feasibility analysis methods, training courses, and detailed reports geared towards supporting the development of the electric vehicle industry in African governments and related industries.
Topics covered in the training programme include the construction and operation of electric vehicle charging facilities, standards for electric vehicles, development experiences, policies related to the energy storage industry, as well as insights into project investment and financing.
The primary goal of the programme is to expedite the establishment of energy interconnection in Africa, decrease occurrences of power outages, and promote electrification, industrialisation, and sustainable development across the continent.
The training programme has garnered significant interest, with nearly 200 participants from energy departments, power companies, universities, and research institutions in 25 African countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, and Ghana.
Golden Dragon has emphasized their commitment to sharing knowledge and expertise, describing their approach in line with the adage, “teaching people to fish rather than giving them fish.”
