The Shura Council, led by Member Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie, has affirmed Qatar’s commitment to creating an environment conducive to startups, attractive investment opportunities, and the advancement of entrepreneurship.
Al Subaie highlighted the significant strides made by Qatar in supporting projects and startups, as well as facilitating investment opportunities through the implementation of legislation and the simplification of processes. He also emphasized the efforts of the Qatar Development Bank in this regard, including project financing, feasibility studies, and the promotion of women’s participation in economic activities.
Furthermore, Al Subaie emphasized the state’s efforts to attract foreign investment companies to the Qatari market, as well as the recent substantial reduction in service fees for trade, industry, and business development sectors to encourage capital investment in various economic fields.
The speech also addressed Qatar’s initiatives to enhance collaboration with international organizations and bodies focused on environmental and climate change issues. Al Subaie also discussed the challenges hindering integration among the region’s countries, such as the energy crisis, disruptions in food supply chains due to climate change, the impacts of pandemics, and conflicts in countries from which the region imports food. He emphasized the urgent need for structural economic reform and the adaptation of the international financial system to meet the evolving needs of the economy.
Additionally, he stressed the responsibility of parliaments to address these challenges, highlighting the need for cooperation and coordination between parliaments and legislative institutions, involving the private sector, empowering women and youth, and promoting sustainable development and modern technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Al Subaie began his speech by addressing the tragic events in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict, reaffirming Qatar’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to a dignified life on their land and the establishment of an independent state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
The Marrakech Economic Parliamentary Forum, held over two days, focuses on securing energy supplies, transitioning to green energy, supporting entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises, addressing challenges, and achieving clean and sustainable energy. The forum brings together political and economic officials, experts, academics, and representatives from civil society to discuss regional strategies for supporting entrepreneurship, economic growth, and connectivity across the Euro-Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf regions.
