Twinco Capital: Bridging the Trade Finance Gap with a €50m Boost

2 min read

Twinco Capital, a Spanish firm, has recently secured a €50m debt facility with BBVA Spark to fuel its growth trajectory. This funding comes at a crucial time, as there is a massive $2.5 trillion global trade finance gap that mainly affects small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in emerging nations, limiting their access to new business opportunities.

What sets Twinco Capital apart is its unique sustainable supply chain finance solution, led by female leaders in the European FinTech landscape. They offer purchase order funding and have already provided $250m in funding to suppliers in growing markets.

Twinco Capital’s mission is to revolutionize the financing methods of global supply chains. They integrate innovative environmental and social criteria into their supplier financing model. Roberto Albaladejo, head of BBVA Spark, expressed his support for Twinco Capital, stating, ‘We are very pleased to support Sandra and Carmen, two entrepreneurs who have reinvented the way supply chains are financed on a global scale.’

With the newly acquired funds, Twinco Capital aims to expand its portfolio and customer base. The capital will also help them reach new geographical markets. Sandra Nolasco, CEO of Twinco Capital, said, ‘We are thrilled to partner with BBVA Spark to help customers build sustainable and competitive global supply chains.’

Twinco Capital primarily collaborates with large corporations in the retail and apparel sectors. They provide expedited funding to suppliers worldwide, ensuring a transparent and seamless transactional experience. Their success lies in their cutting-edge risk model, which combines financial risk analysis with business performance and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.

Twinco Capital’s innovative approach involves using machine learning techniques to assess the strength and quality of commercial relationships between major buyers and their suppliers.

Since its establishment in December 2019, Twinco Capital has experienced remarkable growth, expanding its operations threefold. Carmen Marin, COO of Twinco Capital, explained, ‘The value Twinco provides to customers comes from its unique funding solution combined with business intelligence.’

Twinco Capital has previously received backing from notable investors such as Quona Capital, Working Capital Fund, Mundi Ventures, and Finch Capital. BBVA Spark now joins EBN Banco de Negocios and Zubi Capital as one of Twinco’s key financial allies.
