Coinciding with the upcoming Frieze art fairs in London, the inaugural exhibition, titled “Fabric of Life,” will run from October 10 to November 18. Curated by Catherine Loewe in partnership with Vortic, this exhibition will explore the complex histories tied to textiles, showcasing various techniques such as weaving and embroidery. Artists featured include Hangama Amiri, Sara Berman, Bea Bonafini, Tiffanie Delune, Delphine Dénéréaz, and Camilla Emson. In addition to the exhibition, Smith will include a virtual reality experience highlighting his own furniture and textile designs. To manage the gallery, Smith has appointed Katie Heller, who previously worked at Soho House and Whitechapel Gallery, to oversee art exhibitions and partnerships.

As London hosts major art events such as the Frieze fair, the gallery adds a new dimension to the arts scene. This initiative reflects Smith’s long-standing interest in the arts, manifested through previous exhibitions featuring notable artists. By establishing this permanent space, Smith aims to enhance engagement with both the fashion and art communities.

Paul Smith’s new gallery represents a fusion of design and art, poised to enrich London’s cultural landscape. The first exhibition, “Fabric of Life,” will educate visitors on the significance of textiles through various artistic expressions. With a dedicated team in place, Smith is set to strengthen the ties between his brand and the art world.
