Shapero Modern has inaugurated a new exhibition at its London gallery, featuring significant artworks from renowned artists including Banksy, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and David Hockney. Titled “The Modern Muse,” the exhibition showcases pieces that highlight the figures who inspired these iconic creators. Among the exhibits is a Banksy screen print titled “Kate Moss,” which artfully merges the likeness of supermodel Kate Moss with the glamorous features of Marilyn Monroe. Warhol’s contribution includes the screen print “Details Of Renaissance Paintings” (1984), inspired by Botticelli’s “The Birth Of Venus,” while Warhol’s colourful portraits celebrate notable women like Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Picasso’s muse, Jacqueline Roque, is represented by the lithograph “Portrait de Femme II” (1955). Meanwhile, Hockney’s celebrated portrait of his muse, Celia Birtwell, titled “Celia With Green Hat” (1984), is featured within the exhibition. The show also includes works from contemporary artists such as Grayson Perry, Tracey Emin, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Richard Hamilton. The Shapero Modern gallery has relocated to 94 New Bond Street, enriching its space with a bookshop and decorative print gallery. Gallery director Tabitha Philpott-Kent expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating it allows for greater visibility among London’s shopping community.
