Wood, the global engineering and consulting company, has just announced the appointment of Arvind Balan as their new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director. Balan will officially take on the role from 15th April 2024. He brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as the CFO of the civil aerospace business at Rolls-Royce for the past two years.

Before his time at Rolls-Royce, Balan held various executive financial leadership positions at Shell, where he worked for an impressive 14 years across the UK, Singapore, and China. With his background as a chartered accountant and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Balan is well-equipped to take on this new challenge. He will be based in London.

Balan’s appointment as a director is still subject to approval by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting in May 2024. Once approved, he will succeed David Kemp, who announced his intention to retire on 22nd August. Kemp will remain with Wood to ensure a smooth transition.

Wood’s Chairman, Roy Franklin, expressed his confidence in Balan, stating, “I know Arvind will be a valuable addition to Wood’s board of directors and executive leadership team, especially during this period of ongoing transformation for the company.”

Ken Gilmartin, Wood’s Chief Executive, also shared his excitement about Balan joining the team, highlighting his extensive experience and passion for growth and transformation. Gilmartin said, “Arvind’s expertise in capital markets and operational management in industries where Wood excels will be instrumental in realizing our significant potential.”

Balan himself expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, saying, “I’m thrilled to join Wood as CFO during this exciting time of transformation for the company. I feel privileged to be part of Wood’s board and executive team, and I am committed to achieving collective success for our employees, clients, and shareholders.”

Wood is a leading global company in the engineering and consulting industry, and Balan’s appointment as CFO is expected to contribute to the company’s continued growth and success.
