Baron (Timothy Watkins) will perform at a concert on December 6 at the Creative Arts Centre, San Fernando, aimed at enhancing the Visual and Performing Arts Department at San Fernando East Secondary School (SFESS). The concert, titled An Evening of Christmas Voices, will feature fellow artists Zuwena, parranderos Los Ruisenores, La Divina Pastora, and Una Sola Voz, along with the Southern Marines Steel Orchestra and students from the school. Funds raised will be used for vital repairs to the arts facilities, which are currently in poor condition.

Paul Julien, head of the department, highlighted the need for repairs, stating there are termite infestations and structural issues in several rooms dedicated to dance, theatre, and music. Despite these challenges, SFESS has demonstrated impressive success in the arts, with recent accolades for students in competitions.

Since 2008, SFESS has honoured local cultural icons with an annual programme, and this year’s recipient will be SuperBlue. Julien expressed hope that the concert will inspire students and invited businesses to support their development initiatives.

Additionally, the Mayor’s Ball will be held on December 7 to raise funds for community projects, with Mayor Robert Parris encouraging public attendance and support. Parris, now in his second year hosting, aims to provide assistance to vulnerable residents while promoting a spirit of community involvement.

San Fernando East Secondary School (SFESS) is dedicated to nurturing talent in the arts, despite facing infrastructural challenges. Their commitment is reflected in the notable achievements of their students, who continue to excel in various art forms, including music and visual arts. The concert led by Baron seeks to raise funds to address crucial repairs and enhancements to the school’s art facilities, facilitating a better learning environment for young creatives.

The concert featuring Baron aims to generate funding for essential repairs at San Fernando East Secondary School’s arts department while celebrating the school’s achievements in the performing arts. Meanwhile, the Mayor’s Ball underscores community solidarity and charity as key components in addressing local needs. Together, these events reflect a commitment to fostering artistic talent and supporting vulnerable populations in San Fernando.
