Wayzata School District Tech Levy Gets Thumbs Up

Hey everyone, check it out! Wayzata School District voters totally gave the green light to renew their tech levy. It’s like a big win for the district, you know? The vote went down on November 7, and get this, a whopping 78.95 percent of voters were all for it. Only 21.05 percent were like, ‘nah, we’re good.’ So, what’s a tech levy, you ask? Well, it’s basically a way for the district to get some extra cash from property taxes to pay for stuff like school tech, IT peeps, security systems, and classroom gadgets. The old tech levy was about to expire, but now it’s back and better than ever. This renewed levy is gonna bring in around $5.7 million a year for the next 10 years, and guess what? It won’t even hike up property taxes. Wade Phillips, the tech director at Wayzata Public Schools, was all about it. He was like, ‘Yo, iPads and stuff are super important for teaching these days. Back in the day, it was all about paper, pencils, and textbooks, but now it’s all digital, you feel me?’ And it’s not just about gadgets, it’s also about keeping the district safe. The tech levy helps fund things like door-access control, security cameras, firewalls, and all that good security software. So, it’s a win-win for everyone!
