Exciting News: New Ardrossan Community Campus in the Works!
Hey everyone, have you heard the latest buzz? Plans for the new Ardrossan Community Campus are in full swing after a contractor was appointed to design the new facility. The site is currently undergoing extensive remediation, and construction of the new campus won’t kick off until next year. But hey, progress is progress, right?
This week, North Ayrshire Council confirmed that they’ve appointed contractor Morgan Sindall to complete the design of the new campus facility. And get this, the Ardrossan Community Campus is going to be a super energy-efficient building, designed to meet the Passivhaus Classic standards. That’s some top-notch eco-friendly stuff right there!
Morgan Sindall is no stranger to the game. They’ve got experience in delivering Passivhaus projects and have recently completed the Maybole Campus for South Ayrshire Council. So, they know their stuff!
Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy, is stoked about the project. He said, “We are very much looking forward to working with Morgan Sindall to take this project to fruition. Projects of this scale take many partners with expertise in different areas, and we are delighted to be now working with another. We look forward to providing more details as matters progress over the coming weeks and months.” Sounds like they’ve got big plans in store!
And it’s not just the council and the contractor who are hyped about this. Stuart Parker, the managing director for Scotland at Morgan Sindall Construction, is all about it too. He said, “The Ardrossan Community Campus will deliver first-class learning facilities built to Passivhaus standards, reflecting our two-fold objective of providing high-quality educational spaces that are also sustainable and energy efficient for future generations. It’s a privilege to work with North Ayrshire Council who share our vision of creating spaces that not only benefit students but the local community. We will be delivering tangible outcomes for Ardrossan that go beyond the campus by working with the local supply chain and creating long-lasting initiatives for the area. We can’t wait to get started on the project.” Talk about enthusiasm!
So, what’s in store for the new facility? Well, it’s going to be a hub of activity! It’ll have early years, primary and secondary schools with additional support needs. Plus, there will be shared community facilities like a library, learning hub, and indoor sports facilities including a swimming pool, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, and fitness studio. And that’s not all! There will also be outdoor sports facilities including two sports pitches and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). Oh, and let’s not forget about the outdoor learning landscape, recreational and growing spaces, along with associated parking and infrastructure. It’s going to be a real game-changer for the area!
So, there you have it, folks! The new Ardrossan Community Campus is set to be a game-changer, and it’s got everyone buzzing with excitement. Stay tuned for more updates as this awesome project unfolds!
