The BMW 7 Series is about to level up with some seriously cool tech! The luxury sedan is getting a hands-free driver assistance system called the BMW Personal Pilot L3. This means the car can basically drive itself at speeds up to 60 kmph. But here’s the catch – this new tech comes with a hefty price tag. BMW is rolling out this feature in Germany first, with plans to bring it to India later. It’s going to be an optional add-on for the 7 Series and i7 models, and it’s made possible by a bunch of sensors and cameras at the front of the car. BMW says it works day and night, so you can cruise in style 24/7.
The current 7 Series is already a tech marvel, but this new upgrade takes it to the next level. And let’s not forget about the i7 – it’s the electric version of the 7 Series, giving the Mercedes-Benz EQS a run for its money. Both these models hit the Indian market in January, and they’re turning heads with their luxury and innovation.
But here’s the thing – while the Personal Pilot L3 makes driving a breeze, it doesn’t exactly do wonders for the cars’ looks. To make it work, the 7 Series and i7 have to sport ultrasound sensors, radar, and 3D lidar. These gadgets are fitted into the upper part of the iconic BMW kidney grilles, creating a bit of a cluttered look. It’s like the grilles have grown some extra bits on top, and it’s definitely a departure from the sleek design we’re used to.
So, the 7 Series is getting a major tech boost, but it’s also getting a new look. It’s a trade-off for sure, but for those who want the latest and greatest, it’s a small price to pay for cutting-edge luxury.
