Amy Dowden, the professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, has had a tough start to 2023. Just when she thought she was in the clear after completing her chemotherapy for breast cancer, she found out that she had fractured her foot. This means that her plans to return to the dance floor later this year have been dashed. In a social media post, Amy shared a photo of herself looking glum as she showed off the brace covering her foot. She expressed her disappointment, saying that 2023 is definitely not her year and she’s looking forward to 2024 instead.
But Amy’s fans have been quick to show their support. Her close friend and co-star on Strictly, Dianne Buswell, assured her that next year will be hers. Janette Manrara also chimed in, saying that 2024 couldn’t come soon enough. Other fans sent messages of encouragement, urging Amy to hang in there and assuring her that next year will be better.
Last week, Amy had reason to celebrate when she completed her breast cancer treatment and rang the ‘chemo bell’. She shared a heartwarming photo with two fellow patients who also finished their chemotherapy. In the caption, she reminded everyone to check their chests regularly and emphasized that cancer doesn’t discriminate.
Amy first revealed her cancer diagnosis in May during an interview with HELLO! She expressed her shock at being diagnosed at a young age, especially since her mother had also battled breast cancer but at a later stage in life. Amy recounted the moment she discovered a lump in her breast and how it led to her diagnosis.
Despite the setbacks, Amy’s resilience and positive attitude have shone through. Her journey has been an inspiration to many, and her fans continue to stand by her as she faces this latest challenge.
