did you hear the news? First Lady Jill Biden is taking charge of a groundbreaking initiative that’s all about improving women’s health research. It’s about time, right? President Joe Biden has announced the first-ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research, and FLOTUS Jill is leading the charge. This is a big deal because, for too long, women have been left out of important medical research. Can you believe that only just over 10% of the National Institute of Health’s funding is allocated toward women? That’s a huge misunderstanding about women’s health, including menopause. But now, things are about to change.
First Lady Jill Biden is fired up about this. She said, “Every woman I know has a story about leaving her doctor’s office with more questions than answers. Not because our doctors are withholding information, but because there’s just not enough research yet on how to best manage and treat even common women’s health conditions. In 2023, that is unacceptable.” And you know what? She’s right. The new White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research is all about finding bold solutions to uncover the answers that every woman and her family deserves. They’re calling on everyone to join in and make urgent changes to improve women’s health across the nation.
Let’s Talk Menopause, a non-profit charity partner of HELLO!, is fully behind this initiative. They see it as a huge step forward for women’s healthcare, especially for menopausal healthcare. Donna Klassen, co-founder of Let’s Talk Menopause, said, “For too long, women’s health issues have been understudied and underrepresented, leading to a lack of effective treatments and understanding.” They’re even working with Congresswoman Yvette Clarke’s office to make sure American women have the support they need during menopause. This is a big deal because it’s about time menopause care is recognized as essential healthcare.
Donna is thrilled about this initiative. She sees it as a massive step in the right direction. She said, “This initiative represents a pivotal step towards changing that narrative. At Let’s Talk Menopause, we believe that every woman deserves access to comprehensive and informed healthcare, and we look forward to collaborating with other organizations and the administration to make this a reality.” So, it looks like things are finally starting to change for the better. It’s about time, don’t you think?
