The Ferry Selkie: A Taste of Scotland and Spain

2 min read

So, I went to this amazing restaurant called The Ferry Selkie in Scotland, and let me tell you, it was a total vibe! The place is all decked out with fancy furniture, Versace wallpaper, and floral decor, making it feel like you’re in for a VIP dining experience. I went there with my colleague Joanna on a Wednesday night, and we snagged the window seat in this quiet little spot.

The menu had all sorts of goodies like nibbles, burgers, salads, and sides, but we were there for the small plates. Joanna went for the chef’s selection, which came with five specially selected small plates and a bread board for £30. We were told to get three to five plates each, so we decided to share the veggie dishes and I ordered two small plates and a side.

Let me tell you about the food – it was next level! The chef’s selection had gambas pil pil, chorizo & black pudding in honey & red wine, meatballs, patatas bravas, and roast asparagus. I also got satay chestnut mushroom, sweet & smoky sizzling tofu, and cauliflower popcorn. The plates came out as they were ready, and we started off with some toasted bread with chilli and sea salt butter and balsamic oil, and patatas bravas. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, and the prawns in the gambas pil pil were incredibly fresh and garlicky. The roast asparagus was a highlight for me, and the meatballs were rich and flavourful.

The verdict? The Ferry Selkie totally delivered! The food was amazing, and the chef’s selection is such good value. We did have a bit of a wait at the start, but once we ordered, everything came out quickly. The service was on point, and the place had a homely feel despite the fancy interiors.

If you’re ever in Scotland, you’ve got to check out The Ferry Selkie. It’s located at 335 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry DD5 2DS. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
