let’s talk about the gut microbiota in kids with ARFID! So, a bunch of scientists did some cool science stuff to figure out what’s going on in the tummies of kids with ARFID. They looked at the poop of 135 kids, 102 with ARFID and 33 healthy ones. They found that the gut bugs in the ARFID kids were different from the healthy kids. The ARFID kids had more of a bug called Bacteroides, which might be linked to the ARFID thing. They also found that the gut bugs in younger ARFID kids were pretty similar to the bugs in older ARFID kids. The scientists used some fancy tech to figure all this out, and they even looked at the genes and functions of the gut bugs. They found that the ARFID kids had some different genes and functions in their gut bugs compared to the healthy kids. So, it seems like the gut bugs might play a big role in ARFID. This study is just the beginning, and there’s still a lot more to learn about how the gut bugs and ARFID are connected. But it’s pretty cool to see how science can help us understand things like ARFID in a whole new way!
