The Royal Welsh Winter Fair is not only a festive event but also a food lover’s paradise. The Food Hall at Llanelwedd welcomes new and exciting food and drink producers from Wales, showcasing their products to tens of thousands of visitors over two days. This year’s fair will feature eight promising companies offering a diverse range of culinary delights, from ewe’s milk vodka to wagyu beef. These fledgling businesses will have the opportunity to hone their retail skills and gain valuable feedback from the public.

Managed by Menter a Busnes, Cywain is a project funded by the Welsh Government, focused on supporting the growth of food and drink businesses in Wales. Each year, Cywain provides a platform for emerging Welsh food and drink enterprises to showcase their products at the Winter Fair. This initiative aims to equip these businesses with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in consumer events such as this.

The first day of the Winter Fair will see the debut of Cardi Bay Bangers, a new sausage company based in Ceredigion. Their unique blend of herbs and spices paired with tender, flavour-filled pork promises to create an unforgettable culinary experience, perfect for barbecues or home cooking.

Cuffed-In Coffee Ltd, an award-winning company from Anglesey, will be presenting their handcrafted coffee at the fair. The company, driven by the motto “Drink coffee, seek adventure, enjoy life,” offers a unique blend of ethically sourced coffee beans from renowned regions. Their commitment to quality and social responsibility sets them apart as an innovative addition to the Fair.

Cawl & Co, a Carmarthenshire-based company, is on a mission to introduce Wales’ national dish, cawl, to a wider audience. This innovative enterprise offers conveniently packaged cawl varieties crafted with locally grown vegetables and Welsh-reared meat, allowing consumers to enjoy this traditional dish with ease.

Happy Hedgehog Foods, founded by Apra Ames Roberts, offers a range of vinegars, preserves, and sauces with unconventional flavours and a fascinating historical background. Visitors to the fair will have the chance to taste products such as Strawberry Balsamic Oil and Drunken Pig sauce, each with a unique story and rich, festive flavours.

Ewenique Dairy, a Pembrokeshire-based company, will be showcasing their award-winning ewes milk cheese and a special spirit called Ewe Whey Vodka. This innovative vodka, crafted from whey—a by-product of the cheese-making process—has been attracting attention for its unique taste and refreshing finish.

Tetrim Teas, a well-being tea company from Carmarthenshire, will present their Rhubarb Root Evening Tea, which promotes well-being and aids digestion. This family-run business has dedicated significant effort to researching the health benefits of rhubarb root, using local ingredients to create a drink that offers both taste and wellness.

Printed Chocolates Ltd, a confectionery company from Carmarthenshire, will offer a delightful array of hand-made festive and personalised chocolates, perfect for holiday gifting and special occasions.

Finally, Snowdonia Wagyu, a Gwynedd-based farm, will be showcasing their range of Wagyu beef joints, steaks, burgers, and charcuterie. Their commitment to quality, sustainability, and supporting the local economy has made them a popular choice for those seeking high-quality, ethically sourced beef products.

In conclusion, the Royal Welsh Winter Fair will be a celebration of Wales’ culinary innovation and tradition, offering visitors the opportunity to sample and purchase a diverse range of high-quality food and drink products from emerging Welsh businesses. The event promises to be an enriching experience for both producers and consumers, with something to satisfy every palate.
