A new initiative has been introduced to provide support to aspiring entrepreneurs in Northamptonshire to kickstart their businesses. The programme, called Vulcan Creatives, is set to commence in January 2024 and aims to assist a minimum of 40 individuals in turning their business ideas into reality. This project is made possible through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and will be based at Vulcan Works, a refurbished ironworks in Northampton.
Vulcan Works, which underwent a £14m restoration project, now serves as a hub for new businesses in the creative industries. The upcoming six-month programme is designed to aid entrepreneurs in shaping their business concepts, crafting business plans, and acquiring the necessary skills for success. Participants are required to commit at least two days per week to the programme, actively engage in one-on-one support and coaching, and utilise the facilities at Vulcan Works. Upon completion, graduates will also be eligible for up to 50% off workspace within the building.
The programme will be overseen by Darren Smith, Vulcan Works’ on-site business growth manager, who expressed his anticipation in working with local creative visionaries. He aims to assist them in the process of refining and developing their business ideas into fully-fledged business plans. The initiative has garnered support from the West Northamptonshire Council, with Daniel Lister, the council’s cabinet member for economic development, acknowledging the potential of the Vulcan Creatives programme in driving positive change within the local economy.
With its focus on empowering start-ups and fostering economic growth, this undertaking underscores the importance of nurturing local talent and innovation. By providing aspiring entrepreneurs with the resources and guidance necessary to thrive in the competitive business landscape, the Vulcan Creatives programme stands poised to make a meaningful impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Northamptonshire.
