Tamkeen Wraps Up 6th Global Entrepreneurship Week in Bahrain

The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) recently concluded the 6th edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Bahrain, marking another successful year for one of the Kingdom’s largest events focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The primary goal of the event is to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset and drive the growth and development of the entrepreneurial culture in the Kingdom.

With over 50 distinguished speakers and 35 engaging events, this year’s edition of GEW covered a wide range of topics related to investment, entrepreneurship, and ecosystem building. The event, organized by Tamkeen in collaboration with the Bahrain Chapter of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), featured workshops and interactive lectures that addressed the various challenges faced by aspiring entrepreneurs in the Kingdom.

Kicking off the week was the MENA Angel Investors Summit, organized by Tenmou, Bahrain’s pioneering angel investors organization. The summit provided local and regional startups with the opportunity to connect with potential investors from the MENA region, fostering a supportive environment for entrepreneurial ventures.

During the week, participants also had the opportunity to attend a session by His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, who shed light on the current job market challenges and the opportunities available for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Moreover, the event included sessions focused on exporting to neighbouring markets, fostering innovation, promoting the creative industries, and more. Additionally, a special event was dedicated to addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by female entrepreneurs, further highlighting the inclusive nature of the week’s agenda.

Esam Hammad, the Executive Director of Marketing and Customer Experience at Tamkeen, and the Managing Director of GEN Bahrain, reiterated the Fund’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship in the Kingdom. Recognizing the event’s role in harnessing local talent, innovation, and untapped potential, Mr. Hammad emphasized the importance of inspiring individuals to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.

He further highlighted the continuous effort to curate diverse and comprehensive topics aligned with the evolving needs of the labour market, while also emphasizing the significant role that international platforms, such as GEW, play in enriching the entrepreneurial ecosystem and contributing to sustainable economic growth and advancement in the Kingdom.

The week-long event took place at various locations across Bahrain from 14th to 21st November, attracting enthusiastic participation from individuals eager to learn from industry experts and leaders. The success of this year’s edition further reinforces Bahrain’s position in the global business landscape as a key player in fostering entrepreneurship and promoting economic growth.
