Hitachi Energy has recently unveiled a remarkable innovation in the energy industry: Liquid-filled Transformers with Transient Voltage Protection (TVP®) Technology. The company showcased this groundbreaking solution at the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Transformers factory in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, establishing a new standard of reliability and resilience for transformers.
The launch event was attended by more than 200 guests, including esteemed customers, partners, and employees, who had the opportunity to witness a life-size demo unit of the product. This momentous occasion symbolised yet another significant stride in Hitachi Energy’s dedication to developing cutting-edge solutions for the energy sector. It was made known that the Bac Ninh factory will be responsible for manufacturing distribution transformers integrated with TVP® Technology.
The introduction of TVP® Technology addresses a silent threat faced by transformers when subjected to electrical network switching or nuisance tripping, which can lead to premature failure and costly outages. This technology is particularly crucial for various segments such as data centres, solar and wind renewable power generation, industries, and rail infrastructure that utilise medium voltage fast-acting circuit breakers like Vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs).
Although Vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs) offer excellent arc-quenching capabilities, the switching process can produce fast transient over voltages inside transformer windings, leading to potential failures. These failures result in system downtime and irreparable equipment damage, incurring significant costs for network managers.
Hitachi Energy’s Transformers with TVP® Technology offer comprehensive protection to transformers and downstream magnetic equipment during each switching instance, regardless of network configuration or frequency of switching operations. Previously proven effective in the company’s dry-type transformers, the TVP® technology is now being extended to Hitachi Energy’s liquid-filled transformers.
This pioneering technology is a major breakthrough in the energy industry, showcasing Hitachi Energy’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence. The integration of TVP® Technology into liquid-filled transformers opens up new possibilities for enhancing the reliability and longevity of these essential electrical components.
In conclusion, Hitachi Energy’s launch of Liquid-filled Transformers with Transient Voltage Protection Technology represents a significant leap forward in ensuring the stability and efficiency of electrical systems. The company’s dedication to developing advanced solutions that address critical industry challenges is commendable, and the positive impact of this innovation is poised to be felt across various sectors in the energy industry.
