Sitholokuhle Dube, a budding entrepreneur and the director of Continental Plazas, a network of retail outlets in Gweru, has been honoured as one of the 50 Pan-Africa Changemakers of 2023 under the Youth and Community Impact Championship Development award by the Pan-African Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (Paledec).

Furthermore, Dube received an entrepreneurial award alongside 19 other youthful entrepreneurs from various parts of the African continent at the 8th Pan-African Humanitarian and Investment Summit in Dakar, Senegal, which took place last week.

The summit, operating under the theme Driving Positive Change and Fostering Prosperity in Africa, sought to inspire young entrepreneurs and promote their growth in the business sector.

The organisers released a statement expressing their belief that progress begins with every small step forward and emphasized the importance of the involvement of investors and development advocates in propelling Africa towards its full potential.

Dube, who also oversees a successful grocery and cosmetics store in Gweru and holds a directorship at River Valley Group, a company owned by her internationally acclaimed mother and philanthropist, Smelly Dube, expressed her delight at being recognized at a regional level.

Hailing from a family of accomplished business leaders, Dube shared that she has gleaned invaluable insights from her parents, Mncedisi and Smelly Dube, who have long played a significant role in land development in Gweru and have also ventured into the gold mining sector.

Expressing her gratitude for her parents’ mentorship and support, Dube articulated her dedication to contributing to the growth of the local and regional economy.

Her mother, Smelly Dube, has been the recipient of numerous awards in acknowledgment of her business acumen and philanthropic endeavors. Earlier this year, she was heralded as the VIP guest speaker and recipient of an award at the prestigious 2023 Leaders Without Borders Annual Business Summit and International Honours in London. Additionally, she was inducted into the African Leaders Hall of Fame at the African Business Summit in Accra, Ghana.

Smelly Dube’s commendable philanthropic work involves taking care of hundreds of orphans and elderly individuals in the Midlands province, earning her recognition at local, regional, and international levels for her exceptional contributions.

Sitholokuhle Dube’s acknowledgment as a Pan-African Changemaker and her family’s enduring success in the business world epitomize their commitment and hard work, serving as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the continent. Their accomplishments symbolize the positive impact that both young and seasoned entrepreneurs can have in propelling economic growth and fostering prosperity in Africa.
