The Barbican Centre in London will collaborate with the Fondation Giacometti in Paris to present a series of three exhibitions titled “Encounters: Giacometti,” beginning in May 2025. The exhibitions will feature contemporary artists Huma Bhabha, Mona Hatoum, and Lynda Benglis exhibiting alongside iconic works by Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti. The inaugural exhibition by Bhabha starts on 8 May 2025, followed by Hatoum on 4 September, and Benglis in February 2026.

These exhibitions will take place in a newly repurposed space within the Barbican, previously the Barbican Brasserie, which will close on 31 January. The curatorial team is collaborating with Émilie Bouvard of the Fondation Giacometti, who stated that this partnership represents a rare chance to showcase Giacometti’s work within such a culturally rich architectural setting. The Fondation Giacometti is also expanding its museum in Paris, set to open in 2026, which will feature a substantial collection of the artist’s works.
