Leanne Harrison, a talented student at Croydon School of Art, has been crowned the winner of the annual Best Artist of the Year competition, held at Croydon Art Space. Celebrating emerging artistic talents, the presentation featured David Redfern, a former arts lecturer, who awarded Harrison for her impactful triptych titled “Bringing Back The Green: Restoring Nature.” The piece captures a journey through loss and renewal, urging viewers to acknowledge the urgent need for environmental change. Harrison’s artwork will be exhibited next year in the gallery alongside professionals as she pursues a degree in fine art.

The Croydon Art Space Best Artist of the Year competition recognises the exceptional work of students from Croydon School of Art. Sponsored by gallery owner Paul Hall, it showcases artistic talents, with works chosen from the annual end-of-year exhibition. This year, the judging panel consisted of prominent exhibiting artists who highlighted the need for creative dialogue around environmental issues through the works presented.

Leanne Harrison’s recognition at the Croydon Art Space furthers her ambition to impact the art world positively while raising awareness of environmental concerns. The event showcased the importance of supporting new artists and the arts community in Croydon as they address significant societal issues through creative expression.
