A photographic exhibition on Sherfield Walkway will feature murals from the Grantham Climate Art Prize, inviting young artists to highlight climate and biodiversity crises. The exhibition aims to inspire participation in the 2025 competition to design a mural for Dalby Court, contributing to a sustainable and greener environment.

A new photographic exhibition is set to launch on Sherfield Walkway, showcasing murals from the Grantham Climate Art Prize, which encourages young people aged 11-25 to highlight the climate and biodiversity crises. The exhibition will feature eight murals created to raise awareness of UK biodiversity loss due to climate change, some designed by students and brought to life by professional artists. Notable pieces include a mural from Glasgow near COP26 and a vibrant sustainable landscape mural from Nottingham.

Looking ahead to the 2025 competition, students from Imperial and nearby educational institutions are invited to submit designs for a mural in Dalby Court. This initiative aims to beautify the campus while promoting sustainability and mental well-being. Designs should express a hopeful vision of a nature-driven future and can be created using various materials, excluding AI-generated content.

Winning entries will be chosen by a panel from Imperial’s Property team, the Grantham Institute, and related stakeholders, with runner-up designs displayed across the campus. The competition aims to engage youth, whose realities are heavily impacted by climate change. Moreover, there will be future opportunities for mural designs at White City Campus and additional exhibitions illustrating artistic responses to climate change issues.

The Grantham Climate Art Prize is a biennial competition aimed at young individuals, promoting awareness of environmental issues through art. The prize has led to the creation of numerous murals across the UK, including significant exhibitions at prestigious venues such as COP26 and various museums. The upcoming exhibition on Sherfield Walkway not only showcases this art but also serves as a platform to inspire future participants in the competition.

The forthcoming Greening Imperial exhibition features dynamic murals addressing climate challenges, fostering awareness among young artists. It invites students to submit landscape-style designs for a new mural, enhancing campus biodiversity while inspiring action against climate change. The initiative underscores the role of art in motivating environmental stewardship and planning for a sustainable future.
