A comprehensive Cartier exhibition will open at the V&A Museum in April 2025, featuring over 350 items including famous jewels and watches, marking its first major showcase in three decades. Key pieces include Grace Kelly’s engagement ring and the Manchester Tiara. Tickets sold out quickly, with more expected in early 2025.

In April 2025, the Victoria and Albert Museum will host a major exhibition showcasing Cartier’s history and impact on luxury jewellery. “Cartier: A Legacy of Luxury” will feature over 350 pieces, including jewels, watches, and historical items lent by collectors and institutions, such as His Majesty The King’s Royal Collection. This exhibition marks the first significant tribute to Cartier in 30 years and is set to illuminate how the brand evolved from its modest Parisian origins in 1847 into a global icon of opulence and style.

Highlighting key pieces such as Grace Kelly’s engagement ring, a brooch worn by Princess Margaret, and the stunning Manchester Tiara, the exhibition will narrate the story of Cartier through its innovative design and craftsmanship. Curators Helen Molesworth and Rachel Garrahan are eager to share unseen objects and explore how the Cartier brothers expanded the family business into an internationally recognised luxury brand.

Tickets went on sale in December 2024 but sold out rapidly. New tickets are expected early in 2025, priced at £27 for adults, alongside the upcoming release of a companion book in March 2025. When the exhibition runs from 12 April to 16 November, it promises to be a highlight alongside other exhibits at the V&A.

Cartier, established in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, began as a small workshop in Paris. Its reputation for quality craftsmanship grew under the leadership of his grandsons who strategically expanded the brand into a dominant force in the luxury jewellery market. The upcoming exhibition at the V&A aims to chronicle this development while showcasing the brand’s influence on fashion and societal standards of success.

The Cartier exhibition at the V&A is poised to be a landmark event, reflecting the jeweller’s prestigious history and its impact on luxury fashion. Featuring an array of significant items and unique insights into the brand’s evolution, it promises to attract considerable interest. The showcase will enhance public appreciation for Cartier’s artistry and enduring legacy in the jewellery industry.
