London Stansted Airport’s Aerozone celebrated welcoming its 25,000th young visitor with a special event for students from Forest Hall School. The centre provides interactive educational experiences about aviation, showcasing potential careers for young people. It is now fully booked until next summer, demonstrating its popularity and commitment to inspiring future aviation professionals through various educational initiatives.

London Stansted Airport’s Aerozone education centre recently celebrated a significant achievement, welcoming its 25,000th young visitor since its inception in 2015. To mark this milestone, a special aviation-themed event was hosted for 30 excited students from Forest Hall School. This occasion allowed participants to gain hands-on experience and explore the inner workings of airports and various aviation careers.

Aerozone has firmly established itself as a vital educational resource for local schools, offering engaging sessions that bring the workings of aviation and its career opportunities to light. Its success underscores the centre’s role in inspiring the younger generation and fostering an understanding of the aviation industry.

Alex Smith, Education Manager at London Stansted, said, “Seeing young people’s faces light up when they learn about aviation is what makes this job special. We’re not just teaching them about planes but we’re opening their eyes to future careers they might never have considered.”

Due to its popularity, Aerozone is fully booked until next summer, providing children aged 4 to 18 the chance to engage in aviation-themed educational activities. Jennifer Crossling, Senior Education and Employment Manager, added, “This isn’t just about reaching a big number. It’s about the thousands of young people who’ve discovered new possibilities here. Some might become pilots, engineers, or air traffic controllers, others might invent something that changes how we fly.”

The success of Aerozone is part of London Stansted’s broader mission to support community education and skill development, thereby inspiring future aviation professionals. Marcella M’Rabety, Group Head of Social Sustainability, emphasised the airport’s commitment to education through their initiatives, including Stansted Airport College and the Employment and Skills Academy. These programmes are designed to equip local residents with necessary skills and provide industry-specific qualifications, setting the stage for a well-prepared workforce in aviation.

Aerozone, opened in 2015, is an educational centre at London Stansted Airport, dedicated to providing young people with insights into aviation and related careers. It serves as a hands-on learning environment for students and plays a crucial role in fostering interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. The centre’s activities are aligned with the airport’s commitment to supporting local communities through education and skills development, especially in the aviation sector.

The achievement of 25,000 visitors at Aerozone showcases its impact on inspiring young minds about aviation careers. The centre’s engaging educational sessions have catalysed interest in aviation and highlighted the plethora of career possibilities. Initiatives like Aerozone, Stansted Airport College, and the Employment and Skills Academy are pivotal in nurturing a skilled workforce for the aviation industry, thus ensuring the sector’s future sustainability.
